Hi! My name is Mrs. Adams and I am the school social worker here at Kendallvue. I graduated from a small school in Rhode Island in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. At this time, I picked up and moved from the East Coast to Colorado where I took a year off to navigate this beautiful new state and decide what my next steps would be! Although I have always been passionate about the importance of academics, it was clear to me how easily a child’s social and emotional struggles can cause barriers in their ability to successfully access their education. Because of this, I decided to change my path of becoming a teacher and enrolled at Metropolitan State University of Denver where I obtained my Masters in Social Work. I entered into the Kendallvue community in August of 2018 and have loved every second of working with such an amazing staff, involved families, and wonderful students.

When I’m not at Kendallvue, I spend most of my time with my husband and two rescue dogs, Dunkin and Cooper! I love being active outdoors and am always looking for new places to hike and explore throughout the state. I love to travel and spend time with family and friends whenever possible. I enjoy listening to music, cooking (and eating) good food, teaching myself how to garden (it’s a work and progress!), and working on DIY projects around my house.

Although my summer has been wonderful and relaxing, I am SO excited to start my second year here at Kendallvue in just a few short weeks. I love feeling needed by others and helping out however I can. Whether I am teaching new social/emotional skills, providing a piece of advice, advocating for a student’s needs within the classroom, or providing a safe space for a student to go when they just need someone to listen to them, I absolutely love my job!

School Psychologist

Hello Kendallvue Coyotes, I'm Cara Burrola!

I'm the school psychologist at Kendallvue. I work with all students in the school to build strong social-emotional skills through school-wide systems, classroom support, and small group and individual sessions. I also work closely with the principal, classroom teachers, and special education team to support our students. I really enjoy working in Jeffco as I grew up in Arvada and attended Jeffco schools for elementary, middle, and high school. After high school, I attended the University of Colorado, Boulder (GO BUFFS!) and graduated with a B.A. in Psychology in 2007. I then attended the University of Denver and graduated with an Education Specialist degree in Child, Family, and School Psychology in 2015. This will be my fifth year as a psychologist at Kendallvue.

My husband and I have two children; Lexi who is 3 and Enzo who is 1 and a half. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with kids, family, and friends. I also like to read, watch movies, and sit by the pool. Traveling is another pastime that I enjoy, my parents have a cabin in the mountains that we like to visit.

My first experience working with students with disabilities was as a high school leader at Outdoor Lab and I loved it! That experience leads me to the field of school psychology and has shaped my career. My "why" has always been the students. If I can make a difference in a student's life by teaching them a skill, finding them a resource, or just being a friendly, safe place, then I am happy. I love building relationships with students and families and I look forward to meeting new faces and welcoming back returning ones this year!

Hello everyone!  My name is Liz Mulligan and I am the school psychology practicum student here at Kendallvue this year.  I am currently enrolled at the University of Northern Colorado in a three-year program to earn my Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology.  Since I am a practicum student, I will only be here two days a week (Mondays and Thursdays).  Before heading back to graduate school, I taught in Jeffco both as a sixth-grade teacher and K-3 reading interventionist for seven years. Leaving the classroom was a tough decision, but I am excited to support kids, their families, and the community in a different way.

On a personal note, I currently live in Arvada with my husband and our sweet black lab, Livvie. When I am not studying or in class, I enjoy cheering on the Rockies, baking, and gardening. I am very excited to be part of the Kendallvue community this year, and I cannot wait to meet you all!
