Second Grade Team

Mattison Lord

Matti Lord and Family

I am Matti Lord or Mrs. Lord and I will be in 2nd grade again this year.

I am excited for my third year teaching at Kendallvue. This will be my 9th year teaching. My first 3 years of teaching was on an island in southeast Alaska. I also coached HS cheerleading. I was lucky enough to meet my husband in Alaska and we moved back to my native roots in Colorado.

My husband Austin and I have a little spunky girl named Locklyn who is starting preschool this year. We also just welcomed a new addition to our family at the end of March, our little boy, Ledger. We love to go hiking, swimming, and paddleboarding.  I love to dance and have been having fun doing hair for weddings over the summer.

I have so much fun teaching and building a relationship with each kid in my class. I see our class as a family and we are there to support and learn from one another. I always strive to make learning fun, authentic, and engaging. I can’t wait for another exciting year in 2nd grade at Kendallvue!

Allyson Gibson and Family

Hello Kendallvue! My name is Allyson Gibson and I am excited to be in 2nd grade again this year.

I have now been at Kendallvue for all 6 years of my teaching career and could not be more grateful for landing in such a great community and place to teach. After teaching 1st grade for 4 years I moved up to 2nd grade and absolutely love it! I am a Metro State graduate and am in the process of pursuing a Master of Science in Instruction and Curriculum Design.

I am a mom of two boys ages 4 and 2 with LOTS of energy! Most of my time outside of school is spent with these little guys at the park, library, swimming and playing (their favorite) baseball. When I do get an extra minute or two, I enjoy the outdoors, reading, and going out to dinner.

I have dreamed of being a teacher for as long as I can remember, therefore, I am essentially living my dream career. I love working with kids and seeing their face light up when they have mastered something new. Creating a team of learners within the classroom is something I value.  I am looking forward to another great year in 2nd grade!

Mrs. Lord's Student Teacher

I am a senior at Colorado Christian University studying elementary education, and I’m so excited to be student teaching at Kendallvue until December with Mrs. Lord in 2nd grade! I went to elementary school here at Kendallvue, and I’m so happy to be back! Although the walls have been painted and the teachers have changed since I was a student, the same unique “community feel” still remains.

When I’m not teaching, I am usually working with the youth group at my church or hanging out with family and friends! I love to go fishing, spend time in the mountains, visit ice cream shops, play in the snow, and relax on my front porch swing when the day is done.

Although I wasn’t sure I wanted to be a teacher until the week before I started college, it has become clear that teaching is my passion and what I desire to do! Teaching has always felt natural to me and I’m so happy I found my calling! I love to pour into children both educationally and in other aspects of their lives. It brings me joy to watch students grow and meet their goals as they learn and develop as young people, and I feel privileged to be part of that process.
