Amy Larson
My name is Amy Larson and I'm thrilled to be teaching 1st grade again! This will be my 9th year teaching and 3rd year here at Kendallvue in 1st grade. Prior to Kendallvue, I spent my first 3 years teaching full-day Kindergarten at a fully inclusive charter school in Aurora. My husband's job then moved us to Boise where I taught full-day Kindergarten with two classes, coming every other day. Thankfully my husband's job moved us again back to our home state where I then taught half-day Kindergarten, 2nd-grade math, science and social studies, 4th-grade reading and 5th-grade math at Stony Creek in Jeffco. I graduated with my bachelor's degree with an emphasis in elementary education from the University of Colorado Denver and hope to start my journey towards my master's degree soon!
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and 2 rescue mutts, playing (and watching) most sports, working out and being outdoors. I grew up playing and trying almost all sports but found a love for softball and basketball. I have played the piano since I was about 3 years old and the flute since I was in 5th grade. Most game days you will find me in my Broncos gear!
Growing up I was the kid with a classroom in my basement, playing "school" constantly. I would mimic teachers that had the most influence on me- teaching my stuffed animals, chalkboard and all, eventually upgrading to a whiteboard. I truly believe every kiddo can learn in their own form and want to succeed. Building a trusting, safe and loving classroom begins right away and is absolutely a building block to a successful school year. I feel so fortunate to be in this position with every day being different than the last, watching the children grow into successful, kind and happy individuals.
I'm looking forward to another wonderful year here at Kendallvue!
