First Grade Team

Lynda Weiman

Linda with her children

I’m excited and happy to be teaching first grade this coming school year! This will be my 18th year teaching 1st grade and 27th year teaching at Kendallvue. I was raised in McCook, Nebraska and graduated from Peru State College (in Nebraska,) student taught in Lincoln, Nebraska, and earned my master’s degree from the University of New England. I love Colorado and all that it has offered my family and me!

I have two grown children. My daughter, Kaitlyn, graduated from Metropolitan State College. She will begin her 3rd full-time position teaching 7th & 8th-grade math at Alameda High School this fall. Her passion growing up was riding horses at Westernaires with her friends and continues to ride her horse during the summer in rodeos and parades. My son, Blake, is a professional baseball player. He was drafted in 2017 by the Pittsburgh Pirates and has moved up through the minor league system quickly. He started in short-season A then went to long season A, Advanced A, AA and currently he’s playing in AAA with the Indianapolis Indians. We are confident he’ll make the next big step to the majors and fulfill his lifetime dream! When I’m not following my children’s events I like to visit family in Nebraska, walk my dapple dachshund-Kaiya, read, workout, & relax with friends.

I believe experiencing a strong foundation in elementary school is key to success! I want and work to give that to every child in my class. My goal each
year is to challenge students while instilling confidence in themselves that sets them up for trying new things, making new friends, and exploring their way through the learning process. I love what I do, because I get to see such tremendous growth in children in one year, as well as, follow them as they become young adults. It’s all about giving back what was given to me and was given to my own children as they got their education and became successful adults. I am so thankful to the teachers my own children had at Kendallvue and know you will feel the same!

Amy Larson

My name is Amy Larson and I'm thrilled to be teaching 1st grade again! This will be my 9th year teaching and 3rd year here at Kendallvue in 1st grade. Prior to Kendallvue, I spent my first 3 years teaching full-day Kindergarten at a fully inclusive charter school in Aurora. My husband's job then moved us to Boise where I taught full-day Kindergarten with two classes, coming every other day. Thankfully my husband's job moved us again back to our home state where I then taught half-day Kindergarten, 2nd-grade math, science and social studies, 4th-grade reading and 5th-grade math at Stony Creek in Jeffco. I graduated with my bachelor's degree with an emphasis in elementary education from the University of Colorado Denver and hope to start my journey towards my master's degree soon!

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and 2 rescue mutts, playing (and watching) most sports, working out and being outdoors. I grew up playing and trying almost all sports but found a love for softball and basketball. I have played the piano since I was about 3 years old and the flute since I was in 5th grade. Most game days you will find me in my Broncos gear!

Growing up I was the kid with a classroom in my basement, playing "school" constantly. I would mimic teachers that had the most influence on me- teaching my stuffed animals, chalkboard and all, eventually upgrading to a whiteboard. I truly believe every kiddo can learn in their own form and want to succeed. Building a trusting, safe and loving classroom begins right away and is absolutely a building block to a successful school year. I feel so fortunate to be in this position with every day being different than the last, watching the children grow into successful, kind and happy individuals.

I'm looking forward to another wonderful year here at Kendallvue!

Scheridan Gilman

Student-teacher in Lynda Weiman's Class

Scheridan Gilman  Scheridan Gilman  Scheridan Gilman

My name is Scheridan Gilman, and I could not be happier to be a student-teacher alongside Mrs. Wieman. I was a field student last year in 3rd-grade with Mrs. Wilson and I am lucky enough to be back for a whole year! I am currently attending Metropolitan State University of Colorado to get my bachelor's degree in elementary education with a concentration in mathematics. Yes, I love math! I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in 1st grade, so it only seems fitting I am starting out teaching in the grade where it all began.

When I am not at school, I love being with my family and my two dogs. I love being outside and would play a round of basketball at any time. If I had to watch anything on TV it would be the Great British Baking Show where I get ideas to bake new things. When it comes to music, I enjoy listening to anything from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. Speaking of music, I have played the cello since middle school and continue to perform for weddings and other gigs.

I am always looking for ways to grow as an individual and as a teacher. I am so excited for this amazing year and I am looking forward to growing with your students as we all learn together. It is my belief that every student has the capability to be successful and it is our job as educators to supply them with the right tools.
