Ellen Sommers
Teacher SIED, MA Special Education

This upcoming school year will be my 17th year as an Intermediate SED (Serious Emotional Disability) Center Program teacher in Jeffco Public Schools. I taught 10 years at Shelton Elementary in Golden before coming to Kendallvue. Prior to Jeffco, I have taught in Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO and Sterling, CO. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Colorado. I received my Master's Degree from Chapman University. I moved back to Colorado in 2002 to be closer to my family.
Outside of school, I love to travel, camp, visit hot springs, golf, snowshoe, explore restaurants, and spend time with family and friends. Colorado will always be my home. My dog Ranger keeps me on my toes. I grew up in the Denver area, attending school in the Cherry Creek School District and graduated from Smoky Hill High School. I played college volleyball and track and field at the University of Northern Colorado.
I love working at Kendallvue Elementary. I strongly believe that all students want to be successful. Some just need extra support or need to learn a different way. Building relationships with students, parents, and teachers, and working together as a team to teach them school and social/emotional skills are the keys to a students success. I will do whatever it takes to help a child succeed in our whole-child environment.
