Christina Austin

Principal

Christina Austin moved to Colorado in 1993 to be with her entire family. Christina has three highschool aged boys; Sam is a senior, Henry is a sophomore and Will is a freshman! They also share their home with two dogs; Danny and Ben and a cat named Ellis.

Christina has served in education for over 20 years in a variety of capacities which anchor her belief that we must care for children from birth until eighteen. Christina is entering her sixth-year as Kendallvue principal; previously she served as assistant principal, instructional coach, literacy specialist, owner of a national private tutoring company, and elementary classroom teacher. Her passion to provide a natural, loving community is what began her desire to create a school that partners with parents to support their child from 3 years to ten years of age. Christina says, “It is amazing to be a part of the developmental milestones of a child, alongside their families. This is my favorite part of my job!”

Christina graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s in elementary education. Christina earned a masters in curriculum and instruction from the University of Colorado in Boulder. She earned her licensure in educational leadership and administration through the University of Northern Colorado.

Nick Ophaug

Assistant Principal

Nick in a tie                 Fire fighter Nick

Hi! I'm Nick (Mr. Ophaug)

This will be my second year at Kendallvue as the assistant principal. I have been working as an educator in Jeffco for five years now. Prior to joining the Kendallvue Community, I was the Program Director at Mount Evans Outdoor Lab for four years, one of Jeffco’s two Outdoor Lab sites. Before coming back to my hometown school district, I taught 5th grade in a rural village in Alaska. I earned my bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Colorado, and my Masters in Education Administration from Fort Hays State University.

When I am not working at school, I am usually working on something for wildfire. I work as a wildland firefighter in the summer so free time is often occupied with prepping for a season, whether its equipment, training or teaching wildland fire. I also enjoy spending time with my family or laying on the couch with my dogs. I have three younger siblings that all live in Colorado, and we see each other often, usually at our Grammy’s house!

As an educator, I have had the privilege of working in outdoor and experiential learning for a long time. I have always appreciated the value experiences offer students because it provides learners with real-life learning. Learning in an environment that offers students the opportunity to engage in problem-solving, develop skills to work with others and foster responsibility, all of which help offer a well-rounded education. I am excited that we are able to bring this type of learning to Kendallvue, and increase the number of field trips and overnight trips for our students because of the value it adds to the learning environment!

My name is Darlene McCluskey. My husband, Jim and I have 2 grown sons, Tyler and Kurt. All four of us are baseball fans. We “Root, root, root for the Rockies” and have watched The Sandlot many times.  I am a Colorado native and enjoy visiting my favorite mountain town, Grand Lake where my sisters have a lovely cabin.  One of my favorite activities is boating on the lake of that beautiful little town.

I graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  I try to make it to Ft. Collins every year to visit the campus, wander around downtown and attend a football game. Go Rams!

I have worked in Jeffco schools for 17 years. The last five years have been here at Kendallvue working as the financial secretary. This year, I will move into the role of Business Manager. The organization of the office has changed, but I am still here to help with anything you need! I am excited to be starting another fun year at Kendallvue.

Denise Stephenson

Community Liaison

Hello Kendallvue Community my name is Denise Stephenson

I am excited to announce that I am now the Kendallvue Community Liaison.  We now have the opportunity to really develop the lines of communication and create a network that embraces our community with support.  Making lasting memories takes time and planning but the reward is well worth it.  This role will serve as support to tackle the challenges of pulling together a community in a meaningful, equitable and powerful ways.  We will innovate the way that a school interacts with the community it serves. Communication and making memories takes time and planning but the reward is lasting.  This is the first position of its kind in Jeffco.  Our entire community is benefiting from Christina Austin’s vision and ambitions to make Kendallvue what it could be.

This community is my home.  I live here, my children are students of Kendallvue, ride the bike paths, enjoy our community garden and have a fully vested interest in this neighborhood.   In the time my students have attended Kendallvue my free time has been spent on the Kendallvue BBQ’s, Winter formals, and fundraisers that have brought a much-needed 230k into our school.  I have a background in event planning, catering, project management, and design work.  I grew up in Jeffco Schools and my degree is in Finance from Metro State.

When I am not working my time is spent with family and friends or hiding behind a book.  We love spending time in the mountains, camping and riding anything with wheels.  Both of my children have graduated to dirt bikes this year and it is so nice to get back riding.  Our house always feels busy with three dogs and chickens trying to get in.  This year I will have one student at Kendalluve and another going into middle school at Carmody.

Moving forward into my personal future I feel so fortunate to have this opportunity to work at Kendallvue.  The trajectory that this school is on aligns with all my core values and beliefs.  Taking care of our students, their family and the community that surrounds them is the foundation required for the future.  Being involved and informed are what make us a community.  This is going to be a fantastic year and I am so excited to go on all the overnight camping trips with the classes.

Leeanna Marsh

Health Room Aide

   Leeanna Marsh family Photo

I am Leeanna Marsh (Ms. Marsh), the new Health Aide here at Kendallvue. This is my second school year with Jeffco schools and my first as a health aide! I was previously an independence support/medical para for a middle school student and helped out a lot in that school's health room. Prior to joining the district, I have a background in healthcare; primarily pediatric home health. I have my CNA certification and was working on a degree in healthcare administration when I started with the district. I have decided to make a move more toward education, as I absolutely fell in love with working in a school setting!

When I am not at work, I am usually with my own babies (although they aren't such babies anymore, they are 6 & 8) trying to find adventure wherever we can. We love to spend time on the water any way we can! We like tubing, paddle boarding, boating, you name it! We also love to watch superhero movies together, and are all huge Marvel fans!! We like to get out and travel when we can, and just genuinely enjoy being outside! When I am not with my kids, I love to sing, play music, read, and do hand lettering.

I feel like I have finally found what I want to do and where I want to be, and that is with Jeffco schools, here at Kendallvue! I am so excited to be part of this staff, and to get to interact with your kiddos and you! I am here to help, and want to make sure each and every student feels safe and welcomed when they walk through those doors, and that the health room is a safe place for them to be when they're not feeling well, or just need a little bit of comfort! I look forward to meeting all of the families and kiddos, and can't wait to begin my role as the Health Aide!
