TechForEd
In order to prepare students to thrive in a connected, digital world, Jeffco launched TechForEd, a 1:1 learning device program, in 2019. Every Jeffco student entering 1st, 5th and 9th grade will receive a Lenovo 300e touchscreen Chromebook as their District 1:1 learning device. A new device will be issued every 4 years, specifically at grades 1, 5 and 9. This Jeffco owned device will be turned in at the end of the student’s high school career.
Families will see a “Personalized Technology Usage Fee” on their school fees every fall, which helps cover costs associated with the TechForEd program, including:
- the device and its protective case
- various digital learning tools
- wireless infrastructure to support the devices
Device Repairs and Device Security:
- Device repairs are handled by Jeffco Public Schools. If a student finds that their device is in need of repair, each school has a point of contact to help facilitate this process.
- Jeffco Public Schools also manages the security of student devices and offers added security for at home use via the tool Securly Home.
- For more information, please visit TechforEd Website.
Taking Devices Home:
- Students in grades 4-12 will take the device home nightly. It is the student’s responsibility to charge the device at home and bring it school daily.
- Students in grades 2-3 have the option to take it home. This request will be handled at the school level.
- Students in first grade will leave their devices at school nightly.
- All devices in all grades will be taken home over the summers.
