Preparing for Preschool

We are so excited to teach Kendallvue’s youngest learners.

For many children, this may be their first experience of separation from their parents at home. It is common for even the most outgoing child to be anxious about the first day of school. We have provided a few suggestions for assisting your child during this time. Remember the preschool staff is here to provide support and assistance; making your child’s first days, happy days.

Helpful tips for the first day of school:

  • Convey a positive message to your student. Be excited for them. Young children can sense your feelings. Your enthusiasm will ensure your child that school can be a fun place.
  • Establish a routine for the night before as well as a consistent morning routine.
  • In the morning, sunscreen your student, sign them in and then quickly hug and go. We have two teachers per classroom and additional school staff that will keep your students safe and loved while they are here at school.
  •  Prepare your child for what to expect on their first day of school.

  • Clearly state where you will be going and when you will come back to get them.

Red Carpet Ceremony

A Kendallvue Tradition for the First Day of School

The first day will look slightly different from the rest as we have a ceremony in front of the school to welcome all students to the new year. Our Preschoolers will be participating in this as well. You will find us as we will have signs that say our names. We ask that you walk with your preschooler down the red carpet and around to our door. At the door, we will have a sign in. Find your child’s first name, sign the date and the time, and personal signature. Give your little one a hug and go.

Questions What are the school hours for preschool?

Half-Day~ 8:00 am - 11:00 am & 12:00pm-3:00pm  Full-Day- 8:00 am - 2:30 pm (there is not an after school program for preschool-age children on site (yet))

Where do I drop off? Where do I pick up?

Please come to the outside preschool door. We are located in the main building. As you look at the front door, we are the first door around the corner to the left. Please sunscreen your child & sign them in the book. You must sign your preschooler in (and out) each day.

What if we are late one day and the door is locked?

Please go to the front door of the school, press the button for the office, let them know who you are and that you are dropping off and they will ring you in.

If my student is sick, what should I do?

Call the attendance line for Kendallvue.  303-982-7989 (Program it into your phone for future use.)

What do I need to send with them every day?

Students should come to school dressed for the weather. We will be going outside on most days. In their backpack, have a change of clothes with an extra set of underwear. Please keep this extra set of clothes in a zip lock bag with their name on it.

Also, please send in a water bottle with their name on it. They will use it throughout their time at school. It will go home each day to be washed and refilled.

Children should leave toys at home. We don’t want them to get lost or broken.

My child is not fully potty trained. What should I do?

Please bring pull-ups (not diapers) and wipes in your child's backpack.

Where can I get a school calendar?

Our school calendar is online. Go to our website. You can subscribe to our Google Calendar.

How can I get to know people?

Get involved! Volunteer. Sign up to volunteer in our classrooms once the sign up is available. (We wait a few weeks so your students can adjust to school without you. Then, once they know the routines, we’d love to have you!)

Join Team Kendallvue (Parent/Teacher committee) or the School Accountability Committee. The library always needs volunteers.

It’s my child’s birthday. What can I bring?

We are a healthy school so please do not bring food to celebrate. Your child can bring stickers, pencils, little trinket toys to share with their friends.

Any other questions, please reach out to us or the main office.

Thanks and we look forward to a wonderful year together!
